Individual Insurance
At Texas First Insurance, we offer a variety of solutions to assist individuals and families identify health plans that meet their coverage needs. We assist in securing coverage for:
- Those who don’t have or never had health insurance
- The self-employed
- New employees needing interim health coverage (waiting for their health plan to start)
- Those who have lost employer sponsored health coverage
- Those who have lost spousal coverage
- Adults who are nearing their 26th birthday and will lose coverage under a parent’s health plan
- Those who experience a recent life event and qualify for health coverage
- Dependent court ordered coverage
- Those retiring from a company and need coverage until they are Medicare eligible
Open Enrollment
After open enrollment an individual must have a qualifying event or special enrollment period to apply for an individual plan. (Marketplace open enrollment is usually from Nov. to Dec.)
Special Enrollment Period
You may qualify for a special enrollment period 60 days following certain life events that involve a change in family status or loss of health coverage. Special Enrollments include:
- Non voluntary loss of prior coverage
- Marriage
- Birth of a baby
- Adoption or placement of a foster child
- Divorce or legal separation
- Death
- Released from incarceration
- Moved to a new rating area
- Gained citizenship or lawful presence in the United States
To qualify for a Special Enrollment period you must apply for coverage within 60 days of the qualifying event.
